Your new LP is entitled „6am“. What’s the reason for the title? Please tell us a bit about it.
At the time, I was working on this album (4-5 years ago). I used to work in the studio at night and sleep during the day. I found myself very often smoking a cigarette on the porch at 6am after a long night in the studio.
How was it working on the new LP? What’s the recording process like when you’re in the studio?
It all starts with just recording something. A guitar riff that I found earlier on the couch, some drum groove that I’ve been practicing and a melody that I have in my mind. Then I jam on the first track I recorded with a different instrument and so on until I have something that I like. Sometimes I hear a melody for vocals so I record the melody and invite a friend to sing.
Regarding to that: On your new album you worked with Adam Scheflan and Karolina. Please tell us – how did the collaborations come together?
Me and Karolina are very good friends for years and working a lot together so from time to time we go into the studio and record something. I knew Adam and I think we even played together before but I didnt know him very well and had no idea he also sings. A mutual friend told me that he thinks me and Adam should work together so I called Adam and we had a great time in the studio together and we are very good friends today.
Which song do you like the most? Is there a special song you can share us a special memory?
I dont really have a favorite one. It changes from time to time. At the moment I like „6am“. My special memory is the morning after recording this track. Cant explain but it was very peaceful and magical. I still get the same feeling sometimes when I listen to it.
As a musician you played a couple of shows at different places on earth. What did you learn about different places, people and culture?
I dont know if I can say something generic that I learn from traveling. In every place I learn something new but mostly I get a different perspective on my life my culture and the place I live in.
